Techno Violet Metallic BMW E36 M3 Build By European Auto Source
I consider myself a huge E36 fanboy and own a 98 M3. But today I learned something new. For the last 20 ish years I thought that Techno Violet only came on the 95, and the Daytona Violet came on the 1996-1999. This means my all-time favorite BMW color is in fact, Daytona Violet. I feel like my world has turned upside down.

Daytona Violet was offered on the E34 M5 and E36 M3 during the same period, but you had to go through BMW Individual to get it on the Eight. The hammer price of the Daytona-on-Daytona 850CSi allows it to rank as the second-most expensive example ever sold (excluding, of course, the rare Alpina B12 5.7 ).

Despite 54,177 miles on the clock it's a minter, presented in (in my opinion) the best colour the E36 was ever built in: Techno Violet. Mechanically the M3 Evo was identical to the European-spec M3.

As a reminder, BMW made the e36 M3 in Daytona Violet for 1 year only in the US, 1995 with the S50 OBD-I engine. From 1996-1999 it was sold in Techno Violet with the S52 OBD-II engine. The S50 and S52 produced the same amount of peak power. However, the S52 was the beginning of BMWs now standard "plateau" torque curve, where it produced peak.
